It's in the Hole! Bill Murray's New Take on Golf Fashion

Comedian Bill Murray has come a long way since his days as Carl Spackler, the eccentric greenskeeper in the cult classic "Caddyshack."

Spackler would be proud to discover that Murray has since risen through the country club ranks to become one of golf's greatest ambassadors, known for his undeniable, albeit unpredictable, love for the sport.

But today, the golfing enthusiast is stepping into a new role in the golfing world: fashion icon.

The actor, joined by his five brothers, is now launching William Murray Golf, a lifestyle and apparel brand based on Murray's signature golf buttoned down shirt.

The line comes in partnership with entertainment firm Resignation Media and is billed as a big departure from traditional golf attire, think Loudmouth and J. Crew. In typical Murray fashion, the line is bringing the fun back to the game, featuring comfortable and creative polos, shorts and hats.

But golf in and of itself is not the only sport Murray hopes to pay homage to with the line. Though the full line will not be available until October 22, an exclusive Chicago Cubs–themed shirt will be released online today.

Murray and his brothers, Chicago natives and longtime Cubs fans, designed the "This Is the Year" polo as tribute to the Cubs' historic season. The Cubs, with 96 wins to their name, have not seen this much success since they reached the 80-win mark back in 1929, the same year they went on to the World Series.

The shirt, which features the traditional blue and white pinstripes of the Cubs' uniforms, was released today to celebrate the start of the Cubs' playoff run as the team looks to win its first World Series in over 100 years.

These Chicago Cubs polos and baseball caps, along with the rest of the William Murray line, will be sold exclusively online at WilliamMurrayGolf.com and TheChivery.com.

The baseball-themed attire will retail for $75, with proceeds benefiting the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago. Though the line is a bit on the luxury side, what Cubs fan could say no to supporting their home team's shot at the World Series and a chance to channel your inner Bill Murray while on the course?
