Forget Bart and Homer. This Simpson is the real deal. He’s cranky about the federal budget, cranky about how others perceive the long-term deficit-cutting process (especially when he thinks they’re wrong) – and cranky about whiners in general. Alan Simpson, co-chair of the president’s bipartisan debt panel and former Republican Senator from Wyoming, has pretty well cemented his Beltway reputation as someone who speaks his mind come hell or high water – and now his blunt, colorful and outrageous comments have been lighting up the blogosphere as well.

We’ve rounded up some of the cheekier Simpson comments of late, not as a ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ for Simpson and any of his positions, but because – let’s face it – if he hadn’t said these things, very few of us could have made them up.
