We learn today that Chelsea Clinton, the 31-year-old daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton – and someone who stayed out of the spotlight for years – is now joining NBC News as a special correspondent. Her parents must be so proud of her for working her way up the corporate ladder for years, learning valuable journalism skills, finally achieving the qualifications necessary for such a job … oh wait, sorry. Her only experience seems to be standing next to mom and dad at the podium, smiling and waving at the camera and giving a few speeches with one-line zingers like, “I hope you’ll support my mother,” at college campuses during Hillary’s run for president in 2008.
It’s true that she did a stint at McKinsey & Company and at the Avenue Capital Group, a global investment firm, as well. But maybe her new position means she’ll have to give up her post as a part-time board member for Barry Diller’s Internet media holding company? Stay tuned.
