On June 2, the Global Commission on Drug Policy issued its report. It concludes that the global war on drugs has failed and urged governments to end the criminalization of personal drug use.

A June 2 poll from Democracy Corps, a Democratic group, found sharply declining support for the Republican Party, but no rise in support for Democrats. Much of the loss of support for Republicans appears to result from declining support for the so-called Tea Party movement.

A May 18 Harris poll found that only 6 percent of people have great confidence in Congress, 42 percent have little confidence, and 48 percent have none at all.

On May 13, the Boston Review published an article by Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) on how to fix Congress so that it can deal with the nation’s budgetary problems.
 
A May 12 Rasmussen poll found that 53 percent of people believe elections are rigged to aid incumbents.

A May 9 Gallup poll found strong support for a third party in America. Support is almost identical regardless of ideology.

A May 9 Rasmussen poll found strong majority support for withdrawing all American troops from Afghanistan within a year.

A May 6 Economist/YouGov poll found that 62 percent of Republicans believe Barack Obama is a socialist, 44 percent do not believe he is a Christian, 33 percent believe he is a Muslim, and 20 percent do not believe he was born in the U.S.

On April 29, the Congressional Research Service published a report on campaign finance policy.
