Call it a human storage room: These highly efficient pod hotels in places like Tokyo and Hong Kong are actually individual sleep rooms stacked side by side, usually one unit on top of another, with just enough vertical space to crawl into. Capsules are sealed by door or curtain; bath facilites are shared. Prices start at about $34 a night. "Mine was really comfy," says NYC web producer Lori Kinney.
