What the Exit Polls Revealed on Taxes and Health Care

Here's what exit polls told us about some key issues:

45 percent: NBC News’ exit poll found that 45 percent of voters said the Republican tax cuts had no impact on their personal finances, compared to 29 percent who said they helped and 22 percent who said they hurt. Unsurprisingly, opinions of the tax cuts broke along partisan lines, with those saying they helped overwhelmingly Republican and those saying they hurt overwhelmingly Democrats.

69 percent: The NBC exit poll also found that nearly seven in 10 voters say the U.S. health care system needs “major changes,” while 24 percent say it needs “minor changes.”

57 percent: Nearly six in 10 voters said the Democratic Party would better protect health care for people with pre-existing conditions, compared to 35 percent who said the Republican Party would do better.
