While progress on the bill has ground to a halt in Washington, a new poll from the liberal research group Data for Progress indicates that the Democrats’ Build Back Better plan remains fairly popular with American voters.

“In our most recent polling, likely voters support the Build Back Better Act by a +29-point margin,” the group reported Tuesday. “Over the two months of polling, support for the Build Back Better Act has been, on average, 62 percent, while opposition to the bill is, on average, 31 percent. Support never dipped below 60 percent over the six surveys in which it was tested within the two-month period.”

The research group found that support remained near the same level after pollsters provided details of how the bill would be paid for. And a majority of respondents expressed support for specific components of the bill, including investments in long-term care capacities, adding hearing coverage to Medicare, and providing paid family and medical leave.

The latest poll of 1,207 likely voters was conducted from December 23 to December 25 using online panels.
