MLB Owners Angle for a Tax Break

Major League Baseball owners have made a pitch — fastball? curveball? screwball? — for the IRS to rule them eligible to take the 20 percent deduction for pass-through businesses created by the new GOP tax law, Bloomberg Tax reports.

The Tax Policy Center’s Daily Deduction notes that many of the owners are billionaires and that the law and regulations “bar high-income athletes and coaches from taking the deduction, but say nothing about owners.”

It's not clear whether the IRS will play ball, so for now, we’ll let you be the arm-chair umps deciding whether the owners’ pitch is a ball or a strike.
