2000-2010 Revenue Decline: 35.7%
As digital transmission becomes more seamless, brick and mortar video shops don't stand a chance. Rental stores have disappeared at an astounding rate – there are 35 percent fewer now than 10 years ago. And the new online delivery model doesn't fill the employment gap: In 2010, Netflix had roughly 600 salaried employees, versus 9,000 full-time workers at Blockbuster that same year (a number that has continued to dwindle since the company filed for bankruptcy).
