Rick Perry Going to New Hampshire, Mulling Presidential Run

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is heading to New Hampshire on Saturday.

The visit to the first-in-the-nation GOP primary state comes as Perry inches closer to announcing whether he will run for the Republican nomination for president. Much of the focus remains on Iowa, the leadoff caucus state that's holding a straw poll that day.

On Monday, Perry's office gave few details of the New Hampshire visit.

But a New Hampshire GOP operative says Perry will attend a house party at the home of state Rep. Pam Tucker in Greenland, N.H. The operative was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.

Perry is also scheduled to appear in early-voting South Carolina at a previously announced event.
