Benson (1979-1986)
Though originally spun off from the cult satire "Soap," Benson quickly took on a following of its own. Following the comedic misadventures of the chief of staff for an absent minded governor of an unidentified state, the show was rarely serious, but was one of the first shows to use the political world as a backdrop, including its main character's run for a governorship of his own.
