The Good Wife (2009-Present)
The figure of the (almost always male) politician who lets his libido get the better of him has been around since at least JFK, and with recent scandals by Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner its unlikely to go anywhere any time soon. CBS’s “The Good Wife” takes the somewhat unique approach of presenting this story from the point of view of the wronged wife. The show has the good sense to acknowledge that the modern politician's wife is less likely than in the past to be a homemaker. Often she’s a lawyer herself, and not exactly naïve to the inner-workings of the political machine. So what does a smart and educated modern woman do when she’s publicly humiliated in this world? Women like Hilary Clinton have proven it doesn’t have to be the end of the story.
