Federal Spending Spree
In September every year, you can almost hear your tax dollars flying out the doors of agencies that haven't spent their generous budgets before the close of the fiscal year. The worst offender last year was the State Department, which spent 37 percent of its budget in a wild September shop-till-you-drop spree that included $26,315 on North Face parkas and $5 million for custom stemware.
