2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

This is GM’s next-generation electric vehicle, following the Volt, and the company’s first fully electric vehicle. Referred to as a “game changer” by several automotive analysts, the Bolt may attract more consumers to the all-electric vehicle market. It gets over 200 miles on a charge, addressing fears consumers have about being stranded if the battery dies. Performance isn’t sacrificed; it can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles in under seven seconds. Since the battery is located beneath the interior floor, the interior is spacious, large enough to hold five adults. And, after federal tax credits, it can be had for $30,000. The rather staid design isn’t likely to turn heads like a Tesla, but the Bolt should allow GM to make big inroads on upcoming tightening of federal fuel efficiency standards.
