The 2018 elections are 160 days away, but the campaign ad wars are already well under way, with Republicans and Democrats focusing on very different issues so far — though the election is clearly shaping up to be a referendum on President Trump, too.

USA Today reports that Republicans have aired more than 14,000 ads “touting a tough Trump-style immigration platform.”

Democrats, meanwhile, “bombard voters with ads that promise to protect Obamacare, shore up Social Security and expand Medicare.”

Democrats have run more than 26,000 ads on health care, including more than 8,500 spots promising to protect or expand Medicare.

The advertising numbers are based on data from Kantar Media.
