If teenage boys dream about testing video games, this may be one for their older brothers. Automakers hire drivers to test
new models before they are shipped to dealers and automotive magazines review new vehicles. Pay ranges from about $40,000 to $80,000 and manufacturers usually pay more than magazines. There’s not a lot of formal education required, but you should be a car fanatic and have nerves of steel to take cars to their limits, says Andrew Bornhop, managing editor of Road & Track magazine.
