Terminator Genisys (July 1st)
James Cameron’s original film “The Terminator” was something of an indie success, a lower budget sci-fi film that stripped of its trappings resembles nothing more than the slasher movies of the period in robot’s clothing. No one imagined they were making an epic saga, but that brief glimpse into the post Skynet future was haunting, and full of possibilities. Unfortunately, what has been done with those possibilities is questionable. Taking a page from “Star Trek,” the “Terminator” series goes back to its roots, but in an alternate timeline style. Game of Thrones Emelia Clarke, with her real hair color, but fake accent steps into the Sarah Connor role, now already an ass-kicker in this world. And back in the sunglasses is the former Governor of California…whether Arnold’s involvement is a good thing or not, remains to be seen.
