7.2 percent increase in home prices
Home sales were only up 1.3 percent year over year in October, while pending sales recorded a 2.5 percent increase. A shortage of for-sale offerings is pushing prices to the point that housing affordability has become an issue in some regions. San Francisco posted the highest year-over-year price gain in September, according to the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home price index, rising 11.2 percent.
