To find the hardest four-year school to get into in each state, we looked at data from Niche.com, which ranks schools based on acceptance rates and data on SAT/ACT test scores from the U.S. Department of Education. Acceptance rates are weighted at 60 percent; the composite SAT/ACT scores of the 25th percentile of enrolled students at 20 percent; and the composite SAT/ACT scores of the 75th percentile of enrolled students at 20 percent.
