Vacation (October 9th)
A somewhat random, but also reasonable franchise to reboot, the 1983 Harold Ramis/John Hughes collaboration is now over thirty, and with its many sequels of various quality is something of a tradition for lazy Saturday viewing. “Freaks and Geeks” and “Bones” alum John Francis Daley steps behind the camera while Ed Helms picks up the torch as a now adult Rusty Griswald with a family of his own (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’angelo will appear in small roles).
The later vacation films often centered on Chase’s buffoonery, so it will be interesting to see if Helms takes the same approach, or if he attempts a more organic style of comedy about the pure hell of taking a road trip with your family.
